Pray for the Wesley Oakwood Initiative
We will have an opportunity to gather for prayer in support of the Wesley Oakwood Initiative on August 16. There will be a prayer walk around the Wesley neighborhood and at Oakwood. We are seeking God’s strength and guidance as we move out in faith to serve the Capital Park area. Additional information will be in the Sunday bulletins and on our prayer chain. Underwear and Sock Drive
It is not too late to contribute to our Underwear and Sock Drive for the children in the Capital Park neighborhood. Just bring new boys or girls underwear or socks to our Gathering Area anytime in August.
Children’s Book Drive
This spring and summer, Oakwood’s Classics group is collecting new or gently used children’s books for Trinity United Methodist Church and Carver Elementary school. The books are for kindergarten through 5th graders. Drop your books off at the collection table near the nursery window. Please join us in this opportunity to enrich a child.
Wesley Oakwood Initiative
Wesley and Oakwood United Methodist Churches are joining together to serve the Capital View neighborhood. The need is great and there are many ways we can lend a helping hand. Watch the Sunday bulletins to learn more about this program and how to volunteer.
Grief Group
On the first Monday of every month, a new group is meeting at Oakwood to assist those dealing with the loss of a child. If you are a parent, sibling, grandparent, or someone who has experienced the loss of a young person, you are welcome to join. This is a loving group of people on the same journey, gaining the support of a faith community. If you have questions, please see Pastor Mike.
Oakwood’s Music Fest and Feast
On Sunday, August 31st, we will be breaking away from our normal Sunday schedule and having our traditional worship service at 8:30 am and a special Music-fest service 9:30 am. After a worshipful time in music, at about 11:00 am, we will gather for lunch and fellowship. Oakwood will be providing the pork and we will be asking everyone to bring a side dish to share. Watch for upcoming announcements on what to bring. Please join us!
