Please join us for any of our classes or small group growth opportunities available at Oakwood. We believe worshiping the Lord through participation in these groups will help us grow as disciples, and serve as a witness for Christ while sharing in good Christian fellowship. Most of the sessions listed below are held at the church. Please contact the church office at 515-262-6007 for locations or if you have any other questions.

Sunday CLT
Sunday Christian Learning Time (CLT) classes are from 9:40-10:30 each Sunday morning, which is between our two worship services that are held at 8:30 and 10:45. Classes change throughout the various seasons of the year.
Wednesday Night
On Wednesday evenings, at 7:00 pm, after our 6:30 worship service, Oakwood offers Christian education opportunities. These classes coincide with Wednesday evening children and youth activities so parents can attend sessions while their children are in their activities.
Monthly and Semi-Monthly
Oakwood has small groups that meet throughout the year on a monthly or semi-monthly basis. These groups are focused on special interests or topics our members and friends share. These groups are:
Classics: First Thursday of every month for a noontime potluck. This group is for people 50 years of age and older.
Business, Lunch and Jesus: First and third Thursday at noon at various restaurants in the Des Moines area.
Living with Depression: First Sunday of the month at 1:00. This group does meet outside the church, so call the church office for details.
Weekly
Oakwood has some small groups that meet on a weekly basis. These groups focus on either prayer or Christian book or bible studies and are open to everyone in the church.
Centering Prayer: Thursday morning at 8:00 am.
The Wright Friends: Wednesday at 5:30 pm.
The Acker Group: Tuesday at 7:00 pm. This group meets outside the church.
Men’s Breakfast and Bible Study: Saturday at 7:45-9:00 am.
Seasonal Studies
Oakwood typically does a small group study during each Lenten season, Advent season and during the summer months. The focus for these groups is generally a Christian book study. The groups listed above also do this book study and additional ad hoc groups are formed to complete the study.
